Gizmo is one of Coeur d'Alene's hidden treasures! And Erin Lanigan is leading the way to growing this amazing creative space and getting the word out to the community.

IT’S A PLACE WHERE CREATIVE PLAY IS DONE BY EVERYONE, FROM PRE-K THROUGH GRAY! 

With their theme "Empowering through doing," Gizmo-CdA builds creative confidence and curiosity ​through programs that give all people access to tools, technologies, and mentors.

Gizmo could be described as many things, but first and foremost, Gizmo is a makerspace where art, design, tools, and technology are connected by the hands and minds of those in our community. 

Founded in 2014 by Barb and Marty Mueller, Gizmo has been making waves in the community since its inception. Starting with 2600 sqft on 4th Street, they brought life to a vision of CDA 2030; a local  non-profit, community based organization set to guide the creation of a shared vision for the future of the Coeur d’Alene area.

Stu Cabe is The Ovation Company…standing up for what is right and good! Standing for a positive school environment, Stu has changed the lives of so many kids lives in the company's 23 years. He brings his acting and his education background together, which is why he refers to himself as an "edutainer."

Stu Cabe’s Keynote presentation can be summed up in two words; “Be Nice”. His ability to weave rich, vibrant and profound stories around his simple “be nice” concept is the sole reason his presentation has captivated hundreds of thousands of students nationwide.

He is also Callie's husband.

Ep 63: Max Daniels, Lead Singer for Nu Jack City

What a great conversation with Max Daniels, one of our favorite performers at the Riverstone Summer Concert Series with his band, Nu Jack City. We get to know him a little better, talking about his life, his family, his music and what is next all while visiting his beautiful home and recording in his own recording studio.

Ep. 62: Kevin and Patti Jester, multi-talented artists

What fun to sit down with Kevin and Patti Jester, both very talented people in art, architecture and gardening. We got to talk to Kevin about his Architecture and transitioning to artist as a pastel and oil painter. And Patti who's garden is the stuff of legends, and who also has transitioned to artist as a watercolorist. A fun conversation about how what they do directly reflects who they are, plus the upcoming Coeur d'Alene Artists Studio Tour coming this weekend, and Kids Draw Architecture coming in September.

Ep. 61: Michael Horswill, artist and NIC Art Instructor

It is always so refreshing to talk to one of our VERY talented artists. Michael Horswill is a life-long student of art, continually exploring and uniting processes and materials to create intricate artwork for gallery exhibitions and larger public installations in the Inland Northwest region. He is a fine artist in the Northwest, and a tenured professor of art at North Idaho College.

He is struck by the reoccurring wonder of how curious things have a way of finding one another, as if they are seeking their other life, reminding us through their beauty that everything is deeply connected. He currently exhibits those creations at Art Spirit Gallery.

Michael has also created several pieces in the Coeur d'Alene and Hayden public art collections.

Ep. 60: Scotty Dodson, musician and Sandcastle Man

Scotty Dodson has been creating professional sandcastles for over 35 years. Starting out on the beaches of Long Island N.Y. way back in the mid eighties, he worked his way up to build sandcastles for the clubs and resorts in the Hamptons. His client list includes some amazing companies including Sandals and Beaches resorts, Carnival Cruise lines and Beck's Beer. He envisions the castles and makes them up as he works creating magical kingdoms for folks to see and enjoy.

Scotty also plays the guitar featuring his own original music as well as covers.
